Arimidex (Anastrozole) – 1 mg Tablets
Arimidex is a prescription medication used primarily in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It belongs to a class of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors, which work by reducing estrogen levels in the body.
Arimidex is commonly prescribed as:
- First-line therapy for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive or hormone receptor-unknown breast cancer that has spread (metastatic disease).
- Second-line treatment for postmenopausal patients whose breast cancer has progressed despite prior treatment with tamoxifen.
By lowering estrogen production, Arimidex helps slow or stop the growth of certain breast cancers that rely on estrogen to grow.
